Lilial Free

You may or may not have heard that a chemical compound called butylphenyl methylpropional, otherwise known as Lilial, has been banned for us in cosmetics and limited for use in home fragrance products to just 0.3%. This ban comes into effect on 1st March 2022 meaning no home fragrance products that contain more than 0.3% Lilial can be sold to the general public from that date.

Lilial is a fragrance ingredient with a floral note that has been used for many years and can be found in many popular perfume fragrances. However studies have shown that Lilial could be harmful to fertility and it has now been classified as unsafe for use in cosmetics within the EU, with the UK expected to follow shortly. Limits were also applied in home fragrance products with a maximum limit of 0.3% in the finished product.

We have spent time going through all the fragrances we use to determine which products currently contain more than 0.3% Lilial and will shortly put a list up. And as of the 1st March 2022 they will be unavailable to buy and any purchases of those products from that date will be refunded and not sent.

Keep an eye out for the list of products that won't be available from 1st March 2022, and be assured that I am already working on replacements so you can still enjoy your favourite wax melts and reed diffusers.
